Tigerville, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan fell to the North Greenville Crusaders in a 3-1 final.
The Warriors posted 50 kills in the loss to the Crusaders. Paige O'Connor led the team with 16 kills in the loss. Annika Jones posted 40 of the 47 assists the Warriors delivered. The Warriors had five aces in the loss. Shelby Sheets led the team with three and Paige O'Connor followed her with two. Southern Wesleyan had 92 digs with Anna Martin leading the team with 34. Kendall Vallancourt led the team with five blocks.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan struck first in the debate against North Greenville. However, the Crusaders countered to tie the first set, but a kill by Annika Jones and errors by the Crusaders gave the Warriors a 4-3 lead. Kills by Katie Anderson, Paige O'Connor and Liz Kuntz allowed the Warriors to lengthen their lead to 9-6. The Warriors charged ahead to take a six point lead on a kill by Kendall Vallancourt and make the score 16-10. Southern Wesleyan went on to win the first set 25-18.
The Warriors charged forward in the second set taking a 4-0 lead on kills by Paige O'Connor and Katie Anderson, and an ace by O'Connor. The Crusaders put a point on the board on a kill by Courtney Williamson to make the score 6-1. Shelby Sheets delivered a kill to give the Warriors a 7-2 advantage in the second set. North Greenville fought back, but Southern Wesleyan maintained the lead on a kill by Annika Jones to make their lead 9-5. The Crusaders rallied back to tie the second set 10-10. However, a kill by Paige O'Connor allowed the Warriors to regain an 11-10 point lead. North Greenville charged ahead taking a 13-12 point lead, but a kill by Kendall Vallancourt allowed the Warriors to tie the set 13-13. However, the Crusaders regained the lead on kills by Brittany Tepedino and Katie McManaway. Southern Wesleyan fought back to come to just one point behind the Crusaders and make the score 17-18 and then tie the second set on a kill by O'Connor. North Greenville won the second set 25-19.
North Greenville struck first in the third set, but a kill by Kendall Vallancourt allowed the Warriors to tie the third set. The Crusaders charged ahead, taking a 5-1 lead before Vallancourt posted another kill. Olivia Johnson delivered a kill to put the Warriors 3-7 behind the Crusaders. Southern Wesleyan fought back on kills by Paige O'Connor and service aces by Shelby Sheets allowed the Warriors to tie North Greenville in the third set 14-14. Kills by Annika Jones and Olivia Johnson gave the Warriors a 19-18 point lead. North Greenville pushed ahead, but Southern Wesleyan countered to tie the third set 21-21. The Crusaders won the third set 25-21.

North Greenville countered to tie, but O'Connor delivered her fourteenth kill of the evening to give Southern Wesleyan a 2-1 lead. An ace by O'Connor and kill by Shelby Sheets allowed the Warriors to lengthen their lead to 4-1. North Greenville fought back to tie the fourth set at six, but a kill by Olivia Johnson gave Southern Wesleyan a 7-6 lead. Kills by Katie Anderson and Olivia Johnson gave the Warriors a 10-9 lead. Shelby Sheets produced her third ace of the match to give the Warriors 11-9. The Warriors remained in control on kills by Katie Anderson and Annika Jones, and make the score 16-15. Both teams fighting, the Warriors tie the set 24-24 to force the fourth set to go longer. The Crusaders won the final set 28-26.
