Kissimmee, FL – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Campbellsville Tigers in their second game of pool play in the NCCAA Nationals in a 3-1 final.
Southern Wesleyan posted 42 kills with Paige O'Connor leading the team with 14. Annika Jones led the team with 34 assists, and O'Connor led the team with two aces. Olivia Johnson and Anna Martin led the team with 10 digs apiece. Southern Wesleyan posted 17 blocks, with Kendall Vallancourt leading the team with four. Vallancourt was followed by O'Connor, Liz Kuntz and Olivia Johnson with three.

How It Happened
Campbellsville jumped out early, but the Warriors countered to cut the Tigers lead in half on a hill by Paige O'Connor to bring the score to 2-1. Southern Wesleyan kept the set close with kills by O'Connor and Kendall Vallancourt, and then a kill by Annika Jones allowed the Warriors to tie the set 7-7. An ace by Paige O'Connor and kills by Jones and Olivia Johnson allowed the Warriors to take a 10-7 lead over the Tigers. Campbellsville countered, but kills by Shelby Sheets, Paige O'Connor and Liz Kuntz allowed Southern Wesleyan to maintain the lead and bring the score to 18-16. The Warriors went on to win set one 25-22.
The Tigers jumped out early with a kill by Olivia Jarvis, however a kill by Paige O'Connor allowed the Warriors to tie it 1-1. Back-to-back kills by the Tigers allowed them to take the lead, but a kill by Annika Jones and ace by Anna Martin allowed the Warriors to tie it up. Campbellsville pushed forward taking a 12-6 point lead. Kills by Olivia Johnson and O'Connor put the Warriors down 10-19. The Tigers won the second set 25-10.
Southern Wesleyan took a two point lead, but Campbellsville countered to take a 3-2 point lead. However a kill by Paige O'Connor allowed the Warriors to tie it up at three. Southern Wesleyan matched the Tigers points, keeping the game close with kills by Olivia Johnson and Shelby Sheets. Blocks by Kendall Vallancourt and Paige O'Connor allowed the Warriors to tie a 14-13 point lead. Despite kills by Johnson, Sheets and Liz Kuntz, Campbellsville won the third set 25-20.
Shelby Sheets started off the fourth set strong with a kill to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead. They lengthened their lead to 3-2 on a block by Sheets and kill by Courtney Price. Kills by Paige O'Connor and Kendall Vallancourt and an ace by O'Connor allowed the Warriors to take a 6-5 lead over the Tigers. Back-to-back kills by Maria Coelho, however, allowed Campbellsville to take a 13-9 point lead over Southern Wesleyan. Kills by Paige O'Connor, Kendall Vallancourt and Olivia Johnson put the Warriors down 17-20. The late rally was not enough as the Warriors fell 25-21 in the fourth set.
NCCAA Nationals pool play will continue tomorrow at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. as the Warriors take on Life Pacific and Oakland City.
