Franklin Springs, GA – Southern Wesleyan defeated the Clark Atlanta Panthers on Friday in a 3-0 final.
Southern Wesleyan posted 31 kills in the victory with Katie Anderson leading the team with seven. Anderson was followed by Sarah Stone with six kills. Annika Jones posted 25 of the 27 assists. The Warriors recorded 11 aces with Anderson leading the team with four. Sarah Stone and Courtney Price led the team in blocks. Stone recorded three while Price boasted two.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan took an early lead against the Clark Atlanta Panthers. A kill by Sarah Stone gave the Warriors a 2-0 lead. Anna Martin delivered an ace to lengthen the Warriors lead to 4-0. Southern Wesleyan continued to push ahead with a kill by Olivia Johnson to give them a 7-1 advantage. Blocks by Sarah Stone and Courtney Price allowed the Warriors to come to 10-1. A powerful kill by Sarah Stone gave the Warriors a 21-10 point advantage. Southern Wesleyan kept their lead on a kill by Courtney Price to put them at 24-11. The Warriors won the first set 25-13 on a kill by Annika Jones.
Clark Atlanta jumped out early in the second set of the evening, but Southern Wesleyan tied it up moments later. The Panthers continued to threaten, but a kill by Courtney Price allowed the Warriors to tie it 2-2. Despite the Panthers pushing ahead, kills by Annika Jones and Katlyn Von Ins allowed the Warriors to tie it back up at seven apiece. A service ace by Katlyn Von Ins put the Warriors on top 8-7. Annika Jones placed the ball in the corner of the court to give her an ace and put the Warriors at 13-8. Southern Wesleyan maintained their lead on a kill by Olivia Johnson to give them a 22-17 point lead. The Warriors won the second set 25-17.
The Warriors took the lead early and an assisted block by Sarah Stone and Davis Hendricks allowed the Warriors to come to 5-2. Stone went on to deliver an ace to put them up 7-3. Katie Anderson delivered a powerful kill to put the Warriors up 10-6. The Panthers fought back to tie the set 11-11. Clark Atlanta put on the pressure, but the Warriors fought back with a kill by Olivia Johnson to take a 20-19 point lead. Clark Atlanta countered, but Southern Wesleyan would not go down quietly. Katie Anderson delivered a well placed kill to allow the Warriors to push past the Panthers and put them up 23-22. The Warriors went on to win the third set 25-23 to win the match.
Southern Wesleyan will next travel to Limestone College to open up Conference Carolinas action at 7 p.m. against the Saints. They will then host their home opener on September 14 as they take on the Flagler Saints at 5 p.m.
