Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell in an exciting match to the Flagler University Saints in a 3-0 final score.
The Warriors delivered with 38 kills in the loss to the Saints. Olivia Johnson led the team with 12 kills, but was closely followed by Katie Anderson with 11. Annika Jones recorded 36 of the 38 assists. Jones went on post two of the five aces in the loss. Southern Wesleyan recorded 37 digs with Anderson leading them with 10. She was followed by Katlyn Von Ins with eight. Sarah Stone recorded two blocks.

How It Happened
The Flagler Saints struck early, taking a 6-0 lead before an attack error allowed the Warriors to get on the board. The Warriors challenged back with kills by Katie Anderson and Davis Hendricks to cut the Saints lead in half and make the score 8-4. Flagler continued to pressure Southern Wesleyan, but the Warriors countered with kills by Sarah Stone and an ace by Annika Jones to put them to 17-12 behind the Saints. Despite kills by Olivia Johnson, Sarah Stone, Katlyn Von Ins and Katie Anderson, the Warriors lost the first set 25-19.
Southern Wesleyan jumped out early in the second set with kills by Katie Anderson to put them ahead of Flagler 3-1. Despite the early lead by the Warrior, kills by the Saints allowed Flagler to take a 10-7 point advantage. A kill by Davis Hendricks and a bad set by the Saints allowed the Warriors to cut Flagler's lead in half and make the score 20-10. Flagler went on to win the second set 25-16.
Flagler took a 1-0 lead, but a kill by Sarah Stone and a service ace by Annika Jones put the Warriors up 2-1. The Saints pressured, but the Warriors countered there every point. Kills by Katie Anderson and Olivia Johnson put the Warriors on top 6-5. The Warriors continued to press ahead with a kill by Courtney Price to make the score 15-12. Southern Wesleyan and Flagler battled it out in the final points of the third set, going back and forth with who had the lead. However, the Saints came out on top to win the final set 29-27.
Southern Wesleyan will next host UNC Pembroke on Tuesday, September 18 at 7 p.m. They will then travel to Emmanuel to take on the Lions on September 21.
