Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell in an exciting match to the Limestone Saints in a 3-0 final.
The Warriors recorded 25 kills in the loss with Olivia Johnson leading the team with 11. Annika Jones recorded 21 of the 25 assists for the Warriors. She went on to lead the team with two service aces. Southern Wesleyan posted 54 digs. Katlyn Von Ins led the team with 12. Von Ins was followed by Katie Anderson with 11 and Anna Martin with 10. Olivia Johnson and Danairi Malave had the lone blocks of the evening.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan charged out of the gate in the first set of the evening with an ace by Annika Jones and attack errors by the Saints to put them on top 3-0. The Saints countered, but a kill by Davis Hendricks allowed the Warriors to maintain a 7-4 lead. However, several errors allowed Limestone to take the lead, but the Warriors would not be stopped as kills by Darby Sheets and Davis Hendricks allowed them to tie the set 12-12. The Saints pushed on but three kills in a row by Olivia Johnson allowed the Warriors to tie it up 21-21. The Warriors continued to threaten with a kill by Annika Jones, but the Saints went on to win 26-24.
Limestone took an early lead, but a service error allowed Southern Wesleyan to tie the second set. The Warriors continued to fight with a kill by Davis Hendricks to keep the set tied at 3-3. The Saints broke away, but the Warriors would not be thwarted with kills by Danairi Malave and Darby Sheets and an ace by Anna Martin to come to 13-9 behind Limestone. Kills by Darby Sheets and Olivia Johnson allowed the Warriors to take a 19-18 point advantage over the Saints. Southern Wesleyan continued to pressure Limestone, but the Saints ended up on top with a 25-23 finish in the second set.
The Saints quickly took a 1-0 lead, but a kill by Davis Hendricks allowed the Warriors to tie the final set 2-2. Kills by Olivia Johnson allowed Southern Wesleyan to maintain a tie with Limestone to make the score 5-5. Limestone began to distance themselves from Southern Wesleyan, but a kill by Annika Jones allowed the Warriors to stay 11-7 behind the Saints. Southern Wesleyan continued to fight with kills by Danairi Malave and Annika Jones, but Limestone won the final set 25-16.
Southern Wesleyan will next play the Converse Valkyries on September 29 in Historic Tysinger Gymnasium at 1 p.m. They will then travel to Spartanburg, SC on October 3 to take on the Converse Valkyries at 7 p.m. They will then travel to Belmont Abbey on October 5 and then to Lees-McRae on October 6.
