Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan takes down Mount Olive in four sets on Saturday afternoon to win 3-1.
The Warriors recorded 41 kills in the victory over the Trojans. Olivia Johnson led the team with 19 kills. Johnson was followed by Darby Sheets with nine kills. Annika Jones recorded 37 of the 41 assists in the 3-1 victory. Southern Wesleyan posted seven aces, with Katie Anderson leading the team with four. She was followed by Courtney Price with two. Three Warriors recorded double digits in digs with Johnson and Anderson each recording 24 digs. Annika Jones followed them with 13. The Warriors posted 12 blocks with Courtney Price leading the team with five.

Southern Wesleyan took the first points of the game on attack errors by Mount Olive. Kills by Olivia Johnson and Danairi Malave gave the Warriors a 9-5 point advantage over the Trojans. The Warriors continued to pressure as Annika Jones put down a kill to allow Southern Wesleyan to take a 10-7 point lead. Mount Olive pressed, but Southern Wesleyan shut down their advances as they won the game 25-19 on kills by Davis Hendricks and Courtney Price.
The Warriors raced out to a 5-0 lead in the second set on kills by Darby Sheets and an ace by Olivia Johnson. Mount Olive challenged back with kills by Cyerra Carter, but kills by Davis Hendricks and Olivia Johnson put Southern Wesleyan on top 12-9. Service aces by Katie Anderson allowed the Warriors to take a 22-17 point lead. The Warriors went on to win the second set 25-19.
Mount Olive took the lead first in the third set, but a kill by Darby Sheets allowed Southern Wesleyan to tie the set 2-2. The Trojans continued to challenge with a kill by Kamber Skeen to take a 5-4 point lead. The Warriors pressured them back with a kill by Oliva Johnson, but the Trojans kept them down to lengthen their lead with a kill by Brittany Barnett to take a 12-8 point lead. Despite kills by Davis Hendricks, Mount Olive won the third set 25-18.
Southern Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead on a kill by Danairi Malave. Mount Olive challenged with a service ace by Ania Keene, but kills by Darby Sheets and Davis Hendricks allowed Southern Wesleyan to tie it 3-3. The Warriors continued to push ahead on kills by Olivia Johnson and an ace by Courtney Price to give them an 11-8 point lead. Mount Olive countered with a kill by Kamber Skeen to take a 20-19 point lead, but Southern Wesleyan fought back with kills by Darby Sheets and Olivia Johnson to win 27-25.
Southern Wesleyan will next travel to UNC Pembroke on October 30 before closing out the regular season on November 3 against the North Greenville Crusaders.
